How to get your business mentioned in ChatGPT and Google's AI answers
Some buyers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI answers who to hire, instead of clicking through a page of links. No one can buy a place in those answers, and no one can promise you one. What you can do is check today whether you are mentioned, then make your business easy for these tools to find, read and trust. Start with the worksheet below.

AI answer check worksheet
Ask each question in a fresh chat, signed out where you can, in the assistants your buyers use: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot or Claude. Fill one card per question for each assistant you test (copy the card for Arabic). Repeat monthly with the same questions. If your buyers search in Arabic, ask the same questions in Arabic too.

What "being mentioned" depends on, in plain words
AI assistants answer in two ways. Some answers come from what the model learned in training. Others come from a live web search the assistant runs while answering, and those answers usually show the pages they used. The second kind is the one you can influence fastest, because it reads the web as it is today.
So the job looks a lot like good SEO, with a few extra checks:
Can the tool reach your pages?
Can it read what you do, clearly, on the page?
Do other sources say the same thing about you?
Talk to us
Name the job on a call, or write to us about what you want shipped.
GEO (generative engine optimisation) is one name for this work. Some say AEO or AI SEO. The labels matter less than the checks below.
Readiness checklist
ChatGPT can read your site.OpenAI's search crawler is called OAI-SearchBot. Sites that block it in robots.txt are not shown in ChatGPT's search answers. OpenAI's training crawler, GPTBot, is a separate setting, so you can allow search and still block training.
Google can index your key pages. Verify your site in Google Search Console and check that your service pages are indexed. Google says pages need to be indexed and eligible for a snippet to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, with no extra requirements.
Important content is text on the page. Prices, services, areas and answers should be readable text, not only inside images or behind buttons that load later.
Each key page answers a buyer question early. What you do, for whom, where, and how to start, in the first lines.
Arabic pages are written from Arabic questions. Not translated English. Arabic buyers ask differently.
Your details match everywhere. Business name, phone, WhatsApp number, area and services the same on your site, your Google Business Profile and directories. Google's own guidance says to keep Business Profile and Merchant Center information up to date.
Others talk about you. Real reviews, client mentions, directory listings and articles on sites your buyers trust. Your own site saying you are good is one source; others agreeing is more.
Structured data matches the page. If your site uses structured data, it must say the same as the visible text. Google says no special schema is required for AI answers, so treat it as housekeeping, not a shortcut.

What to ignore
Anyone who promises a place in AI answers. No one controls them, the same way no one controls Google rankings.
"Special AI files" sold as a must. Google says you do not need new machine-readable files, AI text files or special markup to appear in its AI features.
Tricks that fool readers. Pages stuffed with your brand name, fake reviews or copied content can hurt you in normal search, which AI answers lean on.
How this fits with SEO
Everything here builds on normal search work: pages that can be crawled and indexed, written for what buyers ask, in English and Arabic, with internal links so no page is left alone. That is the base of our SEO services. Being found and cited in AI answers, which we call AI search visibility, is the next layer on top of it, and sits with our Digital Marketing work. It applies whichever assistant your buyers use: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot or Claude.
Bring the worksheet to your first call
Fill in the worksheet before you talk to any agency, including us. When you are ready, book a call and bring it. You can read how we approach SEO and our wider Digital Marketing work at Voyuma before we talk.
No one can buy a place in those answers, and no one can promise you one. Being mentioned in an answer depends on what ChatGPT can find and read about you, which is what this guide covers.
Do I need special code or files to appear in Google's AI Overviews?
No. Google says pages need to be indexed and eligible for a snippet to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, with no extra requirements. You do not need new machine-readable files, AI text files or special markup.
What is GEO?
GEO, or generative engine optimisation, is one name for making your business easy for AI assistants to find, read and cite. Some say AEO or AI SEO. It builds on normal SEO rather than replacing it.
How do I know if it is working?
Repeat the same questions in the worksheet every month and note whether you are named and which sites are cited.
